St. Andrew's Academy Uganda Project
The Uganda Project has been a successful part of St Andrew’s Academy since 2008. Each June a group of our Sixth Year pupils travel to Uganda to help a team of local builders with the construction of a building for educational use. They live and work as part of the local community in Kigumba, fully experiencing life in a developing country. All Sixth Year pupils are able to apply to take part in the Project and must meet their own costs through fundraising. Since 2008 we have, as a community, raised over £250,000. This money has been used to build classrooms, a library, a water pump and a dormitory for Blessed Comboni Senior Secondary School. All of which have improved the quality of teaching and learning for all pupils and also allowed many more children the opportunity to access education in Uganda.
