Seasons for Growth
What does it do?

Seasons for Growth aims to strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people (aged 6-18) who are dealing with significant life changes by:
  • Exploring the impact of the change and loss on everyday life
  • Learning new ways to respond to these changes
Who is it for?
Anyone who is living with the effects of change and loss. Many factors can cause change such as:
  • Friends can come and go
  • Loss of someone or something you love
  • Parents and families separate
  • Moving to a new place
  • Impact of illness
  • Family work-life changes
Change affects everyone differently, as does grief. It’s the impact of the change, not the event itself that Seasons for Growth focuses on.

Get S.E.T. Girls
Our Get S.E.T Girls online programme supports girls and young women aged 13+ to realise their worth, build their confidence, and develop powerful self-empowerment strategies that will last long into adulthood.
The programme is fully funded (that means it’s free!) and led by an experienced member of our team. Over six online sessions, girls can expect to work through an activity packed workbook, exploring self development themes such as positive body image, mental wellbeing, emotional resilience, healthy relationships and much more.
"I've really enjoyed Get S.E.T. The self-confidence parts have really made me feel happier with myself, and I'm now grateful for having coping methods for when I don't feel so happy!"
The programme meets the health and wellbeing outcomes in Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, and is ASDAN accredited, meaning each girl will receive an official qualification in the post to confirm (and congratulate) that they’ve completed the course!
If you feel that you would benefit from participating in a GET SET group, please click on the button and fill in the form.

Being Mankind
Today there are 3,477,829,638 people who were born male. At some point every one of those will ask themselves what it means to be a man in the world we live in. They’ll do this because the world still defines people by their gender, but these stereotypes create expectations that stand in the way of being a human first. To look at life purely through the lens of old-fashioned masculinity is short-sighted.

After all, you can be powerful but compassionate, strong but weak, competitive but giving, courageous but scared, the provider while being provided for. None of those choices should be dictated by your gender, yet the unwritten rules make it seem that they are. These expectations have not only inflicted damage on men, but also on the other 3,946,825,237 people they share this earth with. Rather than looking at people as men, we ought to look at men as people.

We hope that through the stories told here, the conversations sparked, the thoughts provoked, the understanding created – men will become the greatest individuals they can be, both for themselves and those around them. We want to show that once you get past the gender expectations, you find that the only unbreakable code in humanity is kindness.

Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation is the original framework and curriculum (Kuypers, 2011) that develops awareness of feelings, energy and alertness levels while exploring a variety of tools and strategies for regulation, prosocial skills, self-care, and overall wellness.  This curriculum provides us an easy way to think and talk about how we feel on the inside and sort these  feelings into four colored Zones, all of which are expected in life.  Once we understand our feelings and zones, we can learn to use tools/strategies to manage our different Zones in order to meet goals like doing schoolwork or other tasks, managing big feelings, and healthy relationships with others. The simple, common language and visual structure of The Zones of Regulation helps make the complex skill of regulation more concrete for learners and those who support them.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to conjure up, you just have to learn how to access it.
Why Do People Need Mindfulness?Being mindful helps you:
  • pay attention better
  • be less distractible
  • learn more
  • stay calm under stress
  • avoid getting too upset about things
  • slow down instead of rush
  • listen better to others
  • be more patient
  • get along better
  • feel happier and enjoy things more
How Does Mindfulness Work? You need to practice mindfulness to get good at it. Training the mind takes practice. The more you practice, the better you get.
If you practice mindfulness exercises, being mindful can come naturally when you need it in your everyday life. This can help when you're stressed, when you have to do something difficult, or when you have to focus your attention. It's a lot like learning to play the piano. Each time you practice, you're training yourself to play a little bit better.
