Employability at St Andrew's Academy

Employability at St Andrew's is a fundamental examination of how we provide, promote, and value a range of learning which leads to a wide variety of jobs. It also means ensuring that all young people, whatever the barriers they face, have fair access to these opportunities.


It is about all of us valuing and understanding what a rich blend of learning, including vocational education, can offer. It is about employers playing an active role, both shaping and benefiting from Scotland’s education system by helping to create the talent pool they need and recruiting young employees.

At St Andrew's we support our young people by giving them opportunities to develop their skills through the SQA Employability Courses, Young Enterprise, Community Involvement and Work Experience.

S4 Employability

This course prepares our learners for leaving school.
In S4 Employability they cover:

• Behaviour in the Workplace
  
• Preparing for the Workplace
  
• Building your own Employability Skills
  

This year we have visited Sky Academy, West College Scotland and Headstrong PLP.

S5/6 Enterprise and Employability

This course not only prepares our learners for leaving school but gives them practical skills through Work Experience and the Young Enterprise Programme.
In S5/6 Employability and Enterprise they cover:

• Personal Development Self Awareness and Self and Work
• Enterprise
• Work Experience
• Marketing and Finance
• Business and E-Commerce
• Team Building
• Fundraising
• Young Enterprise Program

We have had very successful Work Experience Placements CITB,
​McNairs Solicitors, and Boyd & Company Ltd.
