What is National 3 Applications of Maths?
National 3 Applications of Maths is a practical course that focuses on using maths in everyday life. It helps pupils develop confidence with numbers and problem-solving in real-world situations such as money, travel, and data. The course is designed to build essential life skills and prepare pupils for work, further learning, and independent living. The course is split into three areas:
Throughout the course, pupils will develop the ability to: · Use maths in everyday situations · Carry out basic calculations with confidence · Solve simple, practical problems step by step · Interpret information from tables, charts, and graphs · Use mathematical language to explain ideas · Make decisions based on information and data · Build confidence and independence in using maths · Develop problem-solving and thinking skills How is the course assessed? National 3 Applications of Maths is assessed through internal assessments completed in class. There is no final exam. Pupils need to pass all units to achieve the qualification. The three assessments are Numeracy, Shape Space and Measures and Managing Money and Data. |
